Vogue Interiors’ Interior Designer Salvatore Giso, IDS has been selected to create the interior design for the Dominica single-family villa model being built by Gulfshore Homes in the Westlake neighborhood of the West Bay Club community in Estero. The home includes 3,057 square feet under air with three bedrooms, four-and-a-half baths, a study, a flowing great room, island kitchen, and dining area, an outdoor living area with a fireplace, summer kitchen, pool and spa, and a three-car garage. Giso will mix woods and white tones to present an ambiance that is both earthy and refined. Dull white walls and bright white trim will be accented by chocolate browns. The flooring in the living areas will be 24 x 24-inch off-white porcelain tile.
Giso’s color palette and earthy, refined style will be established in the foyer where the white walls and trim will be contrasted by a rich chocolate brown cork wall covering in niches on both sides of the space. Transparent white dimensional art pieces will be set against the cork background. To convey the feeling of walking in a forest, a one-inch mother-of-pearl ceramic and abalone porcelain chicklet tile detail will be set into the main porcelain flooring at six-inch intervals to suggest twigs laying on the ground. A chandelier with circular elements that will be progressively smaller as they tier from top to bottom will be suspended from a gabled tongue-in-groove ceiling and allude to water flowing across a surface. The combination of elements will evoke a sense of walking outdoors.
The integration of elements that offer a connection to nature is continued in the study where the medium-toned wood floor will be graced by a large rug that will be detailed with gradients of overlapping cream and brown tones in a serpentine pattern. White window treatments will include similar hints of browns and creams in bleeding stripes. A contemporary brown chagrin floating desk will feature slim-lined gold legs and contrast a white leather desk chair and a pair of white and gold swivel barrel chairs. A console piece will also feature slim-lined gold brass legs and wood and chagrin trim. As a unique feature, the study also includes a walk-in closet and a full bath that will be accessed via a white sliding barn door.
The great room’s pocketing sliders will provide a connection to the outdoors. Floor-to-ceiling columns will define the room’s feature wall that will include a center section approximately nine-feet wide. Giso has selected a brown mica wall covering for the center section. The textural, earthy material will sparkle. A television will be mounted on the wall above a long brown-toned credenza with white cork door panels and a large medallion handle in the middle. The walls flanking the center section will be covered in white painted cork with linear stripes of mica dust. Sconces with half-moon lampshades and gold spokes with cross-cut rock agates of varying lengths will be presented on the flanking wall sections as well as recycled custom white leather mushroom-shaped ottomans. Furnishings in the great room will include a brown tweed sectional sofa that spans 14-feet and will feature hand painted pillows with pearl trim and an infusion of a variety of brown tones that meet in the center over a white background, a pair of brown and gold side chairs with a reflective look and white fur pillows, diminutive marble side tables with a streamlined steel base three-pronged claw feet, and a square concrete cocktail table in a greyish white tone. The seating area will be anchored by a custom white dimensional area rug. A gabled ceiling will be finished with grey-weathered chocolate brown beams that will extend into the kitchen.
The base of the island in the kitchen will be finished to match the ceiling beams and will be topped by a white quartz countertop that will waterfall to the floor. Square low-back barstools will be set at the island. The white perimeter cabinetry will be finished with plain front panels and a grey-toned solid surface countertop. A unique multi-dimensional backsplash will include painted brown, grey, and white tones over a mirrored background, a look that captures the tones found throughout the home.
The dining room will include a wet bar finished in white to match the kitchen cabinetry that will be flanked by SubZero wine chillers. A 72-inch glass-topped dining table will feature a gold interlocked link base and be surrounded by chairs with chocolate brown sculpted hourglass wood trim and white fabric. Mitered corner sliders will open the dining room to the lanai. A large drum chandelier in a style similar to that of the sconces in the great room will also include cross-cut rock agates of varying lengths hanging from the center.
Giso will continue the living area color palette in the master bedroom. Gold/brown nightstands will feature a gold grate overlay on the doors. A long console table will serve as a dresser. A low-back chaise lounge in a white fabric and a gold and while chenille bolster pillow and a Lucite table will provide a place to relax and enjoy views of the pool. Double-doors will provide access to the lanai.
The home’s 24 x 24-inch off-white porcelain tile flooring will continue in a master bath with a sand gold champagne wall covering that features a textural vertical wave effect. Mushroom-toned vanities with a lacquered finish will play against a chicklet flooring detail in the shower that presents a series of squares that get progressively smaller.
The lanai’s linear ventless fireplace will be finished with white Carrara marble that will extend to the ceiling and have a wavy, rippled look. A furniture group in front of the fireplace will include a massive white sectional sofa and a 44 x 44-inch cocktail table with a live-edge wood top and metallic boulders at each corner. The outdoor kitchen’s countertop will be done in Taj Mahal leather with a Carrara marble look and set atop dark charcoal weathered cabinetry. The dining table’s metallic rock base and live edge wood top will mimic the cocktail table. The barreled-back dining chairs will be presented in the same tone as the tabletop.
