Vogue Interiors’ Deborah Paulin, NCIDQ Completes Interior for Complete Remodel of Condominium at Gulf Harbour

Vogue Interiors announced that interior designer Deborah Paulin, NCIDQ Certified has completed the interior design for the complete remodeling of a luxurious condominium at Gulf Harbour. Deborah created the original interior design for the residence 15 years ago and the client contacted her to design a totally updated look. With structural changes included in the new design, Deborah enlisted the assistance of an architect and a builder. Walls were removed and various spaces were enlarged, including the powder bath and the kitchen pantry. A new entry sequence, including a reimagined elevator lobby, was created, and installed. Walls in what had been an interior entry have been blown out to provide additional space. Curved walls comprised of high gloss zebra wood panels have been placed on either side of the client’s new grand piano to enhance the beauty of the setting. The kitchen was revamped to increase its functionality and new furnishings have been introduced in the family room and grand salon. Walls were knocked down to accommodate an enlarged wet bar that features cabinetry with a gorgeous custom champagne finish with charcoal grey highlights. The bar’s granite counter surface features black with white striations. Ceiling details were updated to make them more contemporary. Circular ceiling details in the grand salon and above the piano have been dropped by about eight inches. In short, the new design has completely transformed the look, feeling, and functionality of the residence.

“With all of the updates included in the new design, there is not another unit like this in the whole building,” said Deborah. “My clients wanted to replace their baby grand with a grand piano and we needed to create additional space to accommodate it. The unit’s original layout included two entry spaces, one outside and one inside. They did not need two entries so we updated the private elevator lobby and blew out the walls on either side of what had been the interior entry. That gave us more room to work with. Now the first thing you see when you enter the unit is a stunning grand piano, an elegant circular crown molding ceiling detail, and the curved high gloss zebra wood wall panels that flank the piano. The center panel on each side is slightly darker and sits out front of the other two. We used backlighting on the panels that shines around the edges. The effect is beautiful and speaks to the owners’ regard for the piano.”

The back wall of the new wet bar is a reflective cork paper that continues the elegance of the grand piano and a gorgeous bronze tone glass topped dining room table that seats eight. The asymmetrical chairs are finished with faux leather in a champagne tone. The glossy black chair legs recall the tone of the grand piano. The table’s double bases are each finished in three custom colors: taupe, champagne, and black. On the wall opposite the wet bar, a special buffet furniture piece is finished in a glossy black with silver and black glass doors with silver circular pulls.

The center of the grand salon’s circular ceiling detail is dropped approximately eight inches and includes cove molding. The ceiling detail is finished with a beautiful silver backed textured paper that makes the cove lighting pop. Furnishings in the grand salon include two 360-degree swivel chairs with taupe textured chenille fabric. A table between the swivel chairs features a glossy black finish with silver accents. A nouveau quartz circular coffee table features a metallic charcoal grey finish and is the show piece of the grand salon setting. The silver glass top is three inches deep with a pebble glass textured material underneath that looks like waves. The grand salon also features a custom sectional sofa with a textural and durable white and grey chenille fabric that is accented with throw pillows in greys, black, and pops of seafoam to turquois.

The kitchen includes an enlarged pantry with a hidden door and is finished inside and out with wood panels that are lighter than the curved panels adjacent to the piano and include a bit of wood grain. Deborah improved the functionality of the kitchen by creating a counter height island that features a base with a beautiful dark wood finish and a durable white quartzite counter surface. The island includes seating for four. A beautiful lighting fixture hangs over the island.

A soffit was brought out on the family room’s window wall to completely hide the room’s electric shades. Furnishings in the family room include two side chairs with a grey and white textured fabric, a sofa with a beautiful lightly textured chenille fabric, a faux leather square cocktail table that includes a removable tray and a lower shelf for storage.

Deborah enlarged the powder bath by pushing its back wall into a guest bedroom closet and removing a linen closet from the same guest bedroom. The newly enlarged space features cabinetry with underlighting and a backlit onyx wall covering on the focal wall.

In the master bedroom, a portion of an existing soffit was saved and then expanded to create a pop-up ceiling detail with cove lighting and molding trim. A pocket was added to accommodate the room’s electric shades. All the bedroom furnishings are new except for one small table. The king-sized bed includes an extra-long mechanized twin box spring that can be elevated to provide maximum comfort. The headboard includes trim in a deep coffee-stained tone and faux leather upholstery in a soft grey color. A bench at the end of the bed is finished with a unique heavily textured silver-grey fabric and champagne-colored legs. Nightstands with a dark sable finish and champagne pulls flank the bed. A beautiful dresser features a taupe-toned wooden top, a granite veneer on the front, and champagne-colored square legs. In the sitting area, a loveseat features two pairs of pillows, two with a flesh-toned chenille fabric and the other two in a unique darker charcoal fabric.

The flooring in the master bath is ceramic tile that matches the tile in the shower and on the first step on the tub deck. The shower features a beautiful mosaic wall detail in light brown-grey, grey, and flesh neutral tones. The tub deck is finished with quartzite that also provides a counter surface for the flat panel maple vanity cabinetry that features a vintage oatmeal antique glaze.

The study showcases a custom deep warm brown built-in desk with a high gloss ebony leather desk chair that matches the room’s side chair and ottoman. The wall over the desk area is finished with a silver paper that serves as a background for a woven grass cloth covering. A king-sized sofa bed is finished in a dark, coffee bean chenille fabric and allows the space to serve as a fourth bedroom when needed.
